What is your greatest fear?
That St. Peter won't like me.

Which living person do you most admire?
Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Anxiety

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Lack of punctuality

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
My ample waistline

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
This question is a set up.  I mean, what are you supposed to say, especially if you're married?  My wife, of course is the love of my life.  But, I have loved others.  And you know who you are.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would like to be in a good rock and roll band, play bass, never move my feet and give the audience a blank stare.  Kind of like John Entwistle of The Who.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Become more organized and, thus, more efficient.

What do you think is your greatest achievement?
Another trick question.  If you have children, this is a lay up.  Even though I don't consider them an  achievement, they provide the most sublime pleasure and agony.  To appreciate that is an achievement.

What is your most treasured possession?
My original Robert Mapplethorpe photograph of William S. Burroughs and Charlie Lucas' first painting

What is your most marked characteristic?
I can tell a story.

Who are your favorite writers?
In no particular order:  William S. Burroughs, Cormac McCarthy, Walker Percy, Wallace Stevens, Larry Brown, James Joyce, Thomas Hardy, Alain Robbe-Grillet, St. Augustine, Richard Brautigan and others..

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
Ignatius J. Reilly in A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, and the nameless father and son in The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Who are your heroes in real life?
FDR, LBJ, and every body who shows up every day.

What is it that you most dislike?
Hypocrisy

What is your motto?
Use enough gun.
